Physical therapy

Physical therapy (PT) is a type of therapy that helps children to decrease pain, build strength, improve movement, and enhance skills needed to complete daily activities. PTs teach children exercises designed to help them regain strength and range of motion, learn functional mobility patterns like crawling and walking, also show children and families how to prevent future injuries.

Physical therapy evaluation and intervention may focus upon:

  • Simplify motor activities to improve motor learning and coordination of movements
  • Therapeutic exercise by implementing intensive strengthening, conditioning, and stretching programs
  • Implement neuromuscular education
  • Integrating primitive reflexes
  • Address functional play/movement activities like bike riding and playground skills
  • Gait training
  • Locomotor training
  • Evaluate equipment needs Assistive technology
  • Aquatic therapy
  • Orthotic and splinting
  • Caregiver education and training

Referrals for Physical Therapy

Referrals should be made if a child or young adult has difficulty in participating at home, school, and/or community settings due to:
  • More than a six-month delay in achieving age-appropriate developmental milestones
  • Limited or restricted range of motion
  • Poor strength
  • Low muscle tone
  • Poor balance and coordination
  • Retained primitive reflexes
  • Abnormal head shape
  • Torticollis or twisting and tilting of the head and neck at an odd angle
  • Difficulty or abnormal patterns when walking

Speech language therapy

Connections provides speech and language evaluation and therapy services to children in daycares, preschools, our office setting, and in our full scales sensory gym. Our therapy is play-based and goal-oriented.

Occupational therapy

Physical therapy

Enjoy therapy from the comfort of your own home. Teletherapy is providing therapy through a live video connection, over the internet. You receive the same treatment as you would in person, it's just done through a computer!
